Making the most out of a class.

What is the point of taking a class if you are not going to make the most out of it? College is too expensive these days to waste your time and money. Me, myself, would not want to sit through a class or engage in an online class for a whole semester to only find out at the end that I failed because I did not give it my all.
One of the ways I make sure that I am fully focused is to not have my phone by me, the television on, and I let my family know that I am doing homework so that they will not bother me. Distractions can really interfere with your grade. Some people can study and do homework with a television or radio on, not me! Another distraction that I have is my dog. It never fails once I start doing homework here he comes. I have learned to just ignore him otherwise I would never get anything done.
Attending class or regularly checking the website for an online class is very important to succeed in school. How are you suppose to learn if you are not going to take the time to look at the material? I look on the website everyday because I am so afraid that I am going to miss something. I have also printed out the syllabus and schedule of assignments and even wrote everything in my planner.
Another way to engage in an online class is to take notes about any of the videos we have to watch or any of the readings. Note taking is a priority in classes because you can not remember everything and this will be a visual of what you have discussed for that day. You will always have these notes to look back at that may help you for other assignments also.
Participation is a key to succeeding also. I know a few classes that I have taken in the past, we have been graded on how much we participated in the class. If no one ever participated then it would just be the instructor giving out information all the time and other students may bring up something that  no one else would have ever thought of. Asking questions goes along with participation. This is a must. All throughout high school I was too shy to ask any questions, now being in college I do not have a choice, unless I want to take the chance of getting a bad grade.

First Post

My name is Ashley Borgfield. I have lived in Jackson, Missouri my whole 29 years of life. My family and my dog is very important to me and do not know what I would do without them. I am pursuing a degree in nursing but currently taking my general studies.

I had to face the challenge of my best friend and her two kids moving to California. These kids are like my own and are now so far away. I helped them move to California and the day I had to come home was the worst day ever. Walking into the airport and looking back knowing that I would not be seeing them on a usual basis tore my heart into pieces. After two years of them being gone and me shedding many tears, I have came to realize that they are still accessible just not close anymore.

I intend to become a better writer and be able to come up with an assortment of things to write about without difficulties. I would also like to be able to think of better word choice when I do write essays.  I think writing is an important asset in life so knowing the proper way will improve my writing. If an individuals writing is very detailed and proper then it is more likely going to interesting to read.
